Tap Rye Sherry Finished 8 Year Old and Tap 357 Canadian Maple Rye
Win Top Awards at Renowned Spirit Competitions

NEW YORK (April 10, 2015) – The results are in! Tap Whisky received top honors in the Canadian whisky category from the 2015 Ultimate Spirits Challenge, one of the most prestigious spirits competitions in the country.

Tap Rye Sherry Finished 8 Year Old Canadian Whisky was named the overall top winner and was awarded the Chairman’s Trophy in the Canadian Whisky category. Distinguished as “Excellent,” “Highly Recommended,” and as a “Great Value,” Tap Rye Sherry Finished was awarded 94 Points. The judging panel touted the whisky as “both earthy and sweet, aromas encompass sandalwood, stone fruits and dried berries. Soft on the palate, the considerable cinnamon and slight chili spice is mellowed by a rich core of caramelized nuttiness and hints of cranberry and date.” Ideal in a range of cocktails, judges suggested enjoying Tap Rye Sherry Finished in a classic Manhattan.

Clearly a standout in competition, Tap Rye Sherry Finished was also recently rated “Highly Recommended” by the Beverage Tasting Institute. The judging panel described the whisky as “delicate, toasty, nutty aromas of melted toffee, polished wood, and raisin bread toast with a silky, bright, fruity medium body and a warming, intriguing, medium-length cream in cereal, white chocolate mint, and delicate spiced nuts finish. A nice mellow Canadian whisky with a good range of fruit and spice flavors.”

Earlier in the year, Tap 357 Canadian Maple Rye Whisky for the second time won Flavored Whisky of the Year – Multi–Market at the 2014 Canadian Whisky Awards – an honor Tap 357 first received in 2012.

“Canadian rye whisky is about flavor and enjoyment,” said Norman Bonchick, Chairman and CEO of 375 Park Avenue Spirits. “Rye whisky grown in colder climates, like Canada, has more dominant spice elements and brings great flavor to the whisky. We are incredibly excited about these awards, but certainly not surprised – they are well-deserved.”

Ultimate Spirits Challenge, now in its sixth year, celebrates 33 Chairman Trophy winners, the highest award, along with 162 Finalists.

The Canadian Whisky Awards recognize the very best Canadian whiskies and encourage distillers to maintain the highest standards for making whisky. An independent panel of whisky writers, bloggers, and journalists select the winners following a blind tasting.

The Beverage Testing Institute was founded more than 30 years ago with the objective of producing fair and impartial wine reviews for consumers –a philosophy that still holds true today.

Imported by 375 Park Avenue Spirits, the award-winning Tap Whisky Finished Collection includes Tap 357 Canadian Maple Rye Whisky (SRP $29.99/750 ml), limited edition Tap Port Finished Canadian Rye Whisky ($39.99/750ml), and the newest marque in the portfolio, Tap Rye Sherry Finished 8 Year Old Canadian Whisky ($39.99/750ml).
Tap Whisky is crafted in small batches at the oldest distillery in Western Canada and finished in small quantities in Quebec by Master Blender Michel Marcel. The result is a smooth Canadian rye whisky finished with an additional layer of flavor that Tap Whisky fans have come to expect.
